Saturday
DIRECTOR - only caught the last 2 tracks but they sounded promising
THE UPPER ROOM - not the 'mellow' band my mate had said they were (and they did a rather impressive cover of U2's I Will Follow!)
CAPTAIN - my current faves impressed me lots as I didn't expect the vocals to come across so well live
ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN - missed the beginning but got to hear all the oldies (I always forget how good they really are!)
GIRLS ALOUD - hey, going to see 'acts' you wouldn't normally bother with is all part of the festival experience!
THE GO! TEAM - incredibly bouncy (Ninja is a nutter!)
RADIOHEAD - still don't really get them but when they're good they're very, very good...

Sunday
THE BOY LEAST LIKELY TO - banjo-a-go-go! (The Wonder Stuff meet The Zutons - possibly!)
DOGS - we'll probably be hearing more of them
THE RIFLES - and them
BIC RUNGA - positively enchanting
SUGABABES - cool (until they speak - but hearing them shout "...motherf***ers..." was quite amusing!)
DELAYS - surpassed my expectations in front of a disappointingly small crowd
JAMES DEAN BRADFIELD - could've been the Manics for all I knew
THE CRIMEA - entertaining gap filler
BELLX1 - now I see what all the fuss is about
THE CHARLATANS - never let me down (and they played "Then"...!!!)
MORRISSEY - considering I let my subscription lapse 10 years ago I still really enjoyed the stuff I didn't know so I will be catching up on the stuff I've missed since Southpaw Grammar in the near future. As for Smiths songs, he started with Panic, finished with How Soon Is Now?, and slipped in Girlfriend In A Coma along the way!

Great weekend - and so, so much luckier than Stafford with the weather...!!!

Chris :D
