I reckon she needs to spend more time working on her music and less time chatting to Jessika

I don't think Gemma - whether it be by herself or by someone on her behalf - has any obligation to put any amount of work (like, news updates) into her
website, etc - musicians might sign contracts with record labels and so on but they don't have such contracts with their fans. That said, I don't think
it's a way to win fans, and it might even lose you some of the fans you have, especially nowadays (with so much omni-present competition).
I reckon she needs to spend more time working on her music and less time chatting to Jessika

Indeed she has no obligation at all. It is, however, a good way of keeping the more casual observers up to date with what's happening. If it were not for
the web would anyone even know there was an EP imminent? If people don't know of this site they may rely on the other one for news.

pianoman wrote:Just so you know, I don't "chat" with her, we can talk. but now everything is on a "stand by" mode as I'm waiting for the EP to come out as any other listeners. I think she's really busy and I don't have enough time (and money) to have a conversation everyday with her! haha I think (again) that she's in the middle of different projects, plans (this comedy with Adam Duritz maybe and other things we don't know) so the delay is not only due to manufacturing problems. So now, like I could say in french it's "Silence Radio"...we have to keep quiet! |

ok, guys, girls,
The EP will out as a CD in 2 weeks! She's actually recording a John Martyn's song for a charity CD. (Is "head and heart" originally from him?)

if the news had broken a few hours later I'd think it was an April Fool's Day joke
now us does anyone care to share the tracklist, even?

Its great to have a recorded version of 'Oliver', clearly the stand-out track for me

I really like Half Light too...I like those repeating rhythms, I mean there's a link between "Home", "this is what you do", "half
light" and other songs...a sort of...regular same "rolling" tune. I don't know if someone can understand.
She's made justice with "These Days"! really. |

Her voice is fantastic as always.
I think the recorded version of Oliver doesn't do it justice... however, her harmonies are beautiful. I think it's the tone of the guitar throughout that I'm not too sure about. These Days is amazing. I wish November was a bit more raw. But what do I know! Thank you Gemma! |

I'd have been happy with the 'Other Voices' version of November being released, just glad it has got a release at all, though.

I'm pretty happy with the EP overall. I think the recorded versions of both Oliver and November came out quite nice. I like that she kept them pretty bare
bones. The piano and cello on November are nice additions, though. The way she sings and plays on These Days really reminds me alot of Mama, What's That
Song for some reason. Maybe just the picking and register of her voice (though I haven't listened to MWTS in ages so I have no idea how similar they
actually are - just a feeling I got while listening). Half Light is the highlight for me. I'm not generally a big fan of alot of synth, but it works for me
on this song.
That said, I'd now like her to put the acoustic down for awhile and make a more electric driven record. It's time to get loud again. |
