Well she won't sing any of her music at all in May. For the Liam Clancy's shows she will sing on background vocals on one of his songs.

Not a hope so, was looking at a Liam Clancy dvd at lunchtime there. I know some of his songs but like Pianoman it would abhore me to deprive a real fan of a

Well it's important because from Gemma herself, she won't play any of her music in May. it's important to not give wrong information because people will come and believe this is her full show and will be disappointed. |

No offense, Jessika, because I know you have the best intentions (and forgive me, Laura, as I know you can defend yourself), but it's pretty inappropriate
to imply that Laura (who is, after all, the owner of this site) doesn't know what she's talking about when it comes to Gemma. Whatever contact you do
or do not have with Gemma, Laura has run this site for many years and has an established relationship with the appropriate people to give out info. To assume
that whatever info you've gotten is complete and the final word is incorrect and a bit disrespectful.
I know that seems kinda heavy (as I saw others kinda jokingly prodding you about it), but I've seen several such comments lately and it comes off as a little aggressive, Jessika. As I said, I know you're a big fan and are doing a lot to get the word out, but coming here and insisting that your conversations with Gemma or whoever are the top word is a little bit inappropriate, I think. That being said, it's not your fault that people were cut about the LA gig-- I'm sure many people showed up because they know Gemma's music and they don't frequent this board at all, so don't give so much weight to it. I would say a good majority of fans of Gemma's don't frequent this forum, so any responsibility you bear for any of that is minimal at best. Carry on, lads!

I was just asking because yeah I didn't get the same info. and I don't care. I didn't say anything about all the work Laura has done, I don't know why you put this on a table. 
I respect everything, everyone. don't get me wrong but...yeah, I think I have nothing to do. you're free to express yourself. I don't know what to say about the future end of this website and forum, I'm terribly sad. Thanks Laura for everything you have done here.

pretty condescending. I'm sure I wasn't the only one to notice it, but I was the first to mention it aloud. As I said in my previous post, I'm not
attacking you, but I think you ought to think before you type-- even if we don't mean things a certain way, perception is greater than reality in a lot of
senses.

I feel sorry for the future end of it all, I'll miss all of people's writings. The little offshoot you want...a new forum? I can do something like that as I run one for almost 8 years (it was about The Corrs but is now closed for similar reasons Laura has mentioned). I'll need all kind of help & ideas. I'm sorry, but this seems like an incredible overreaction to me. Personally, I didn't read any condescending tone or one-upmanship (never mind
aggression or disrespect), it just looked like one person had some information and another person had information they thought contradicted that, so a question
was asked to seek clarification on it.
And even if there was, a mere condescending tone is hardly reason to throw in a well-liked forum and years of effort! I'm sure we're humble enough to recognise that none of us are infallible. I think everyone needs to chill and remember the innate ambiguity of internet posts, especially when a non-native language is involved, and not forget that everyone is here for the same reason. This is such a small yet essential place that we all benefit from, why spoil that when there's no need to pick it apart for politics and principle.

I know that Gemma will play some other shows but I just can't give any info if it's not totally confirmed too. When it will be, I'll come back again here.
Now, who will be in Dublin on May 27 to 29? I'll be there with friends, maybe I could meet some of you, we could chat and talk about music? (if you like, send me a PM).

Of course it's absolutely your decision what you do with the site, Laura, but I can't help feeling like it would be such a shame to deprive the
internet, Gemma's fanbase and arguably Gemma herself of such a resource as this, over what appears to be no more than a little misunderstanding or two
between a couple of intelligent adults.
I appreciate that I am not privy to the full picture but surely there's a better resolution that would not harm the reason we came here in the first place. Particularly when it's perfectly evident that there was zero intent to cause harm. |
